Kelly Knapp is a New York-based award winning Production Designer, Experience Designer, Stylist, and Creative Director. Her practice has varied widely from immersive experience design and off-broadway set design to commercial architecture and landscape architecture; her breadth of experience ranges from exhibition design and multimedia installation to interiors, window display, creative direction, and styling.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in sculpture, and a Masters in Landscape Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Immediately following graduation she moved to San Francisco to work as a designer for the SWA Group, an internationally renowned landscape architecture and urban planning firm. She later moved to New York City where she used her architecture skills to design, fabricate and install windows and displays for Anthropologie.

Most recently, she served as the Production Designer and Art Director for a fully immersive off-broadway show that opened in Times Square in the Spring of 2019. The show won Best Family Show in New York from the Off Broadway Alliance. In addition to the sets, alongside the shows creative director and chief creative officer as well as the project architect, she designed the two-story 15,000 square foot venue which include retail and event spaces. She built a production studio, and guided the Art Department team in the design of the hand crafted and digitally fabricated elements featured in all nine fully immersive performance environments that comprised the hour-long show.

In 2017, Kelly was the Creative Director and Experience Designer for the International Trend Show which was held in Zaha Hadid’s DDP building in Seoul, Korea. The International Trend Show is the event which launches Pantone’s “color of the year,” and is attended by tech, interior, product, and fashion designers from around the world.

Most recently, Kelly has assisted the design teams at Bergdorf Goodman with everything from the styling and hand crafting of interior elements, to the production of events, to the installation of their famous windows. She was part of the production team for Pat McGrath’s NYFW party launch in 2019, a key designer for Schiaparelli’s Launch of their Secret Garden collection which was attended by Vogue’s Editor-at-Large, Hamish Parker Bowles, and a stylist for Libertine’s trunk show, be-jeweling design elements with Swarovski crystals. She was also part of the window team for the Met Costume Institute’s elaborate “Camp” exhibition.

Film and commercial work has included set dressing for scenes filmed at Bergdorf Goodman for the feature film “Hustlers,” starring Jennifer Lopez, as well as art direction for Matouk’s “The Senses,” a lifestyle film for the luxury linen brand.
